how come Firefox 3 use so much memory
Alex,
I am new to here and sorry if this is not the right place to bring up a question...
I am using Firefox 3.0.1 with Windows XP and my computer has a duo-core chip and 3GB memory.
I recently find that Firefox 3 do not respond smoothly.... after I open the "windows task manager", I find it uses a lot more memory than I expected--over 350MB---these memory hardly release if I close the tabs---they are release only after I turn the entire program off.
I also find when I open the webpage under multiple windows, the amount of memory it use is significantly lower than if I open them all in one window and multiple tabs.
do you have any idea why that happens? is it possible because of virus?
if you have any suggestions, please email me at zwuncsu@gmail.com
thanks
Wu
Re: how come Firefox 3 use so much memory
Wu,
I have never had such experience with my Firefox but this may be because of my browsing habits: I prefer light sites, not to open more then 5-7 tabs and so on. I've heard that memory usage may depends on installed extensions so you can try to disable some of them.
Alternatively, you can try ramback extension.
Regards,
Alex
