GalleryViewer
Translations: russian (русский).
GalleryViewer is an extension for your browser that converts image sets (from blog posts, for example) to nice good-looking galleries.

Left: long blog post with images, right: images extracted and converted to
gallery in just two clicks.
Why to use it:
- It greatly improves viewing experience!
- Supports safe browsing with JavaScript and plugins (such as Flash) turned off.
- Allows you to choose gallery when page contains several galleries.
- Works in most of the modern browsers.
- Supports Google Images (experimental).
Ok, I want to try it
The extension is available in two forms: extension for Google Chrome and bookmarklet.
Extension for Google Chrome
GalleryViewer tries to find galleries on the page you browsing and displays page action with available galleries in the address bar.

For creating image gallery from the image set just click on the found gallery in page action popup. Extension should display the selected gallery. To close the gallery and continue browsing just click on the "close" link in the top-right corner of the document.
To install the extension click on the Install button on the extension's page in Google Chrome extensions repository.
Bookmarklet
You can start using GalleryViewer by drag'n'dropping the following link to your browser's bookmarks toolbar:
Clicking on this link will include GalleryViewer script into the page you currently browsing and display the list of available galleries. Select the gallery and enjoy watching.
Extension or bookmarklet? What is right for me?
Extension:
- The browser updates extension automatically when the new version is published.
- Extension hides itself when there is no galleries on the page.
- Extension is installed in browser, so it is always available when you need it. Bookmarklet works only when this site works properly.
- It is more secure to run extension then include a code from other site.
There is very important drawback: GalleryViewer extension is available only for Google Chrome right now. And even in Google Chrome the extensions are not available when you are browsing pages in "incognito" mode.
Bookmarklet:
- Works in different browsers and in "incognito" mode.
- Easiest installation, just drag'n'drop.
Bookmarklet loads GalleryViewer code from this site so when site is not available (what I want never happens), the bookmarklet is not available too.
So if your browser is not Google Chrome or you want to enjoy the image sets in "incognito" mode - use bookmarklet. Otherwise it is better to use the extension.
Change log:
- 0.6 - add image permalink, tineye and "edit in picnik" links, improve gallery detection.
- 0.5 - support galleries with thumbnails linked to big images, fixes embed tags overlaying, fix domain name for google images
- 0.4 - Resize big images to fit into gallery window, add bookmarklet mode.
- 0.3 - Correct infinitive loop when no images on the page
- 0.2 - Fix flash overlaying, support for safe browsing, support Google Images.
- 0.1 - First release
Known issues:
- It may display gallery incorrectly the very first time. Workaround: refresh page and open the galley again. It should be displayed correctly.
- Missed pictures in Google Image results may damage mouse navigation in the gallery thumbnails. Workaround: use arrow keys or refresh the gallery.
Please report feedback and issues as comments to this page or send to my email: alex.netkachov@gmail.com. Thanks!
Plans:
- Add special handles for major image sites. For example, load full size image when browsing image search results.
- Print a few words from text that follows a picture to make sure that you do not miss the cool description.
- Add image details and download link.
- Add zoom.
- Add "Play slideshow" button.

Awesome
This is great! It makes viewing much easier.
One thing that would be nice to add onto it would be the ability to link to the ACTUAL image location from the 'gallery/slideshow.' You know, instead of a temporary one that this extension makes.
Thanks!
